Almost Gone
$78.00Price
This is a reproduction of my original watercolor depicting the old, pre-renovated lifesaving station on the north tip of Hatteras Island. The building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, was constructed in 1898. After the US Coast Guard decommissioned it in 1988, it fell into disrepair and remains empty today, its future uncertain.
The old Bonner bridge (AKA Oregon Inlet bridge), which peeks at you in the background, was erected in 1963. It was replaced by a new, longer, taller bridge in 2019.
